Why

Common questions

Why is this one so much more expensive?

They are slow to breed and demanding to raise, because the mother has to feed her own eggs to each tadpole. That work is what you are paying for.

Is it good for a first-time keeper?

We would say no. It is the least forgiving of the popular dart frogs and needs a mature, stable planted vivarium before it arrives.

Is it toxic?

Captive-bred ones are not, since the toxin comes from their wild diet. Handle as little as possible anyway and always wash your hands.

How many should I buy?

A proven pair. Males are territorial with each other and females can be rough with rival females, so groups need much more space than people expect.
