How big does it get?

It is the largest boa in the Caribbean and can pass three metres with a heavy build, so this is a serious adult animal.

Is it safe to handle?

Many are food-aggressive and quick to strike at the door, so always use a hook to lift it out, and get a second person for a large adult.

Why do we rarely see them for sale?

They are uncommon in captivity, breed slowly and are subject to trade controls, so only a few come available each year.

What does the enclosure need?

A large floor-based enclosure with sturdy hides, a big water bowl, some climbing structure, and a warm zone on a thermostat.
